ENHANCEMENT
Although imaging acquisition systems are very advanced, the output image data may have inherent noise, low contrast or poor edge definition. Furthermore, signals may be prone to a variety of noise sources.
Image and signal enhancement techniques may be used to preprocess the medical data in order to offer a more
suitable representation for both visual inspection and computer-based analysis.
- Enhancement Techniques for Medical Images
- Contrast enhancement
- Motion artifact compensation (patient movement)
- Acquisition noise reduction (i.e., Gaussian, Rician)
- Tissue non-uniformity correction of MRI (bias field correction)
- Edge enhancement
- Panning and zooming
- Enhancement Techniques for Medical Signals
- Signal denoising
- Signal filtering
